Civic Roundtable: Common Help Topics and FAQs

Welcome to Civic Roundtable! Whether you're just getting started or need a refresher, here’s a quick reference guide for key actions on the platform. If you need help, feel free to reach out anytime at support@civicroundtable.com.


🙋‍♀️ How do I invite another member from my office?

To invite a colleague to Civic Roundtable:

  1. Go to the Member Directory.
  2. Click the “Invite Member” button.
  3. Enter their email address and follow the prompts.

They’ll receive an invitation to join. Once they accept, they’ll be guided to:

  • Set up their account with an email and password
  • Optionally enable two-factor authentication
  • Complete their Member Profile so others can learn about their work

Encourage them to join the relevant spaces once they're in!

📌 Note: After you send the invitation, your colleague may need to wait for approval by the space manager before they are granted access. They'll receive an email once their access is confirmed.


🔑 How do I reset my password?

If you’ve forgotten your password:

  1. Go to app.civicroundtable.com and enter your email.
  2. When prompted, click “Forgot Password”.
  3. Select the blue “Reset Password” button.
  4. Check your spam/junk folder if you don’t receive a code. You can also use the “Didn't Receive A Code?” option to request a new one.

📲 How do I reset my Two-factor authentication if I am locked out?

To reset your two-factor authentication:

  1. Email support@civicroundtable.com to request removal of your current 2FA settings.
  2. Once support confirms it's been cleared, log back into the platform.
  3. Go to Manage AccountSecurity to set up 2FA again using your authenticator app or text message.

📚 How do I Find A Resource?

Use the global search bar at the top of your screen to search across Civic Roundtable. As you type, you’ll see results grouped by category:

  • Discussions – Posts & comments
  • Resources
  • Events
  • Organizations
  • Members
  • Connected Websites

To narrow your search to just resources:

  1. Enter your search term in the top search bar.
  2. In the dropdown that appears, click on “Resources (x matches)” to filter results to only show resources.
  3. Once you land on the search results page, you can apply additional filters—like space or file type—to further refine what you see.

The search engine supports typos, displays past queries, and ranks results based on relevance.


💬 How do I ask a question of the community?

To post a question:

  1. Go to the space where you want to post.
  2. Click the “New Post” button at the top of the feed.
  3. Enter a title and write your question or message in the body.
  4. Add tags, emojis, links, polls, or even events to your post if needed.
  5. Hit Post—or save it as a draft and finish later.

You can edit or delete your post anytime.


📥 How do I send a direct message to someone?

You have a few different ways to start a one-on-one conversation on Civic Roundtable:

1. Use the Messages Icon

  • Click the “Messages” icon at the top left of your screen.
  • Select “New Message” to start a new conversation with another member.

2. Message from a Space

  • Go to the “Members” tab within any space.
  • Find the person you’d like to message and click “Contact” next to their name.

3. Message from a Profile

  • Navigate to someone’s Profile Page (e.g., by clicking their name on a post or comment).
  • Click the “Message” button to start a conversation directly from their profile.

Each of these methods lets you send private messages to other Civic Roundtable members, helping you stay connected across spaces and topics.


🧭 How do I find a space?

If you're looking to join a specific space:

➡️ Reach out to support@civicroundtable.com and let us know which space you'd like to join. Our team will get you added as soon as possible.

Once added, you’ll be able to explore posts, events, resources, and connect with fellow members in that space.


🚪 How do I leave a space?

If you’d like to leave a space you’re currently in:

  1. Navigate to the space you want to leave in the Home Page.
  2. Click the ellipsis (⋯) or gear icon in the top right of the space.
  3. Select “Leave Space.”

If that option isn’t available or you’re unsure, just email support@civicroundtable.com, and we can remove you manually.


🔒 My account seems to be locked

If you're locked out of your account—either from too many login attempts or an issue with verification—just send us a quick note at support@civicroundtable.com. We'll help you get back in as quickly as possible.


🔔 How do I manage notification settings?

You can manage your notification preferences from either:

  • The Account modal (click your profile picture)
  • Your Profile page → Notifications

Email Notifications

Toggle email alerts on or off for different types of activity—like @mentions, likes, comments, poll responses, messages, and more. Emails come from notifications@civicroundtable.com .

SMS Notifications (for Announcements only)

Get text alerts for important updates shared by Space Managers.

To turn on SMS notifications:

  1. Click your profile image → Manage account → Notifications
  2. Add and verify your phone number
  3. Toggle ON SMS Notifications for Announcements
  4. Save your preferences

You’ll receive SMS alerts only when Space Managers enable them for critical announcements.


Notification Types Include:

Notification Description
Post mentions Someone @mentions you in a post
Comment mentions Someone @mentions you in a comment
New posts created A new post is added in a Space you belong to
Comments on posts I’m following Someone comments on a post you created or follow
Likes on my posts or comments Someone reacts to your post or comment
New messages received You get a direct message
Poll responses Someone responds to your poll
Daily/Weekly roundups A digest of activity in your spaces
Announcements Critical updates from Space Managers (SMS option available)

Post-Level Notifications

You can subscribe/unsubscribe to individual posts via the (...) menu → Subscribe/Unsubscribe. You’ll then be notified about new comments on that post.Need more help?
