Creating New Posts on Roundtable via Email

Roundtable’s email inbound feature lets you create new posts and comments simply by sending an email—perfect for newsletters, updates, and other mass communications. It’s a seamless alternative to posting directly in the feed.

How It Works

Each Roundtable space has a unique email address. When you send an email to that address:

  • New Post Creation
    • Subject line → becomes the post title
    • Email body → becomes the post content
  • Attachments
    • Any files attached are uploaded as resources in the post.
  • Comments via Email Reply
    • Replies to post notification emails become comments on the original post.
    • This also applies if “reply-to-email” is enabled for comment notifications.

Creating a Post via Email

1. Find Your Space's Email Address

Ask your Roundtable team or Space Manager for your Space's email address. It will look like:

roundtable+spacename@inbound.civicroundtable.com

2. Compose Your Email

  • Open your email client (e.g., Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail)
  • Paste the space’s email address in the “To” field
  • Use the subject line as the post title
  • Type your content in the email body
  • Attach any relevant files

3. Forwarding an Existing Email

To share an existing message:

  • Click “Forward” in your email client
  • Enter the space’s email address in the “To” field
  • The original email’s subject and content will be used for the post.

What Happens Next

  • The email is processed by Roundtable.
  • A new post appears in the specified space.
  • Attachments are added as resources.

Notes

  • Formatting: Posts created via email may look different from those written in the Roundtable editor. For formatting help, contact the Roundtable team or your space manager.
  • Sender Verification: Posts are linked to the sender’s Roundtable account based on their email. Make sure you send from your registered address.
  • Visibility: Content submitted via email is visible to all members of the target space.
  • Admin: You can enable/disable email inbound via your admin panel
