What is AI Answers?

AI Answers is a contextual, AI-powered feature that provides direct answers to user queries, grounded in the content available within the Roundtable platform.

What content does AI Answers use?

AI Answers draws from your Roundtable space's existing content:

  • Discussions - Posts and comments from your community discussions
  • Events - Information about past and upcoming events in your space
  • Resources - Content from files that have been uploaded (including audio transcripts and text extracted from images)

Does it search the internet?

No, AI Answers stays within your Roundtable space. This approach offers several benefits:

  • Privacy - Your discussions and information stay private to your community
  • Relevance - Answers come directly from your organization's context and conversations
  • Reliability - No risk of inaccurate information from external sources
  • Security - Your space's content remains contained and protected

How is this different from keyword search?

Keyword search requires you to think of the right keywords and then sort through lists of results. AI Answers works more like having a conversation with a knowledgeable colleague who understands your space's content inside and out.

  • Keyword search: "housing policy" → Returns 15 documents to review
  • AI Answers: "What are the key points from our recent housing policy discussions?" → Gets a direct summary with the most relevant information

This is especially helpful when you're not sure of the exact terms to search for, or when you need information that spans multiple documents or conversations.

Is AI Answers the same for everyone in my space?

AI Answers uses only the content available in your Roundtable space, so everyone is drawing from the same knowledge base. While answers may be personalized and will vary depending on how a question is phrased, the underlying information is consistent for all members within a space.

Is it personalized?

Yes, AI Answers tailors responses using information from your profile, such as your role, organization, and location. This means you'll get answers that are more relevant to your specific context and responsibilities.

Providing feedback and reporting issues

AI answers may not reflect the most complete or current information. Generated responses may contain errors or misinterpretations, especially with complex or ambiguous content. Your feedback helps make AI Answers better for everyone – here's how to share it:

  • Quick rating - Use the thumbs up/down buttons to rate responses
  • Detailed feedback (optional) - Add specific comments about what worked or didn't work
  • Report concerns - For urgent issues or inaccurate information, contact us at support@civicroundtable.com

Privacy and security

  • Access controls - You can only access information through AI Answers that you already have permission to view in your space.
  • Data isolation - Your space's information is completely separate from other spaces and is never shared with users outside your community.
  • Secure processing - All data handling occurs in encrypted, secure environments with strict access controls.

Conversation history

You can review your previous AI conversations. Your conversation history is private to you and cannot be viewed by other members or administrators.

How can I turn off AI Answers for myself or my space members?

We understand there may be situations where you or your members can’t confidently or compliantly use AI Answers. If that’s the case, just reach out to us at support@civicroundtable.com.

How do I access AI Answers?

AI Answers is accessed via the left sidebar. 

Why can't AI Answers find content that I know exists?

AI Answers may occasionally miss relevant information or context. If you notice something missing or incorrect, please reach out to us at support@civicroundtable.com — your feedback helps make the product better.
